Choosing the right switch-mode transformer

A few decisions shape every SMPS design — sharing this detail lets us quote and prototype faster:

Topology first Flyback for low-power isolated rails; forward for mid-power; push-pull, half- and full-bridge for higher power; LLC for soft-switching and high efficiency. Topology, frequency and I/O voltages set the core and winding.
Core & material EE/EF/ETD/EFD cover most SMPS work; RM and PQ give compact, low-EMI designs; planar suits low-profile high-density. Ferrite grade balances loss, saturation and cost at your frequency.
Leakage & efficiency Interleaving and sandwiching control leakage and AC/proximity loss, which drive efficiency, snubber design and EMI. We model and minimise it.
Thermal headroom Temperature rise comes from core and copper loss; we select bobbin, wire gauge (incl. litz) and potting to stay in your thermal limit.
